The Daily After School Enrichment Program (DASEP) is an independent, non-profit organization that provides learning-based afternoon activities to students in grades K-8 at the Florida Ruffin Ridley Elementary School. in the 35+ years since the program’s inception, DASEP has become the district’s largest after school program, serving over 300 students with 30-40 class/activity choices per session. Families may choose from a wide range of classes offered five days a week during the two hours following the regular school day. We offer a range of classes including athletics, creative movement, and fitness; visual and performing arts, craft, culinary, and STEM.

Tuition Assistance

In recent years, DASEP has been very fortunate to be able to offer generous financial assistance to all qualifying families. However, circumstances have changed dramatically in the last several months. The program has not operated since June 2024. Therefore, DASEP had no revenue during these last several months and was unable to build its tuition assistance fund. For this reason and due to dramatically increased overhead expenses and a lack of reserves, we regret that DASEP can offer only VERY limited tuition assistance this session and only to families who meet two or more qualifying criteria on our questionnaire.

Daily Schedules

Every Monday through Thursday:

TRANSITION FROM SCHOOL DAY TO DASEP:

At the school’s 2:30pm dismissal time, DASEP onsite staff members pick up K-2 students and bring them directly to their DASEP classes. Students in grades 3-8 will go independently to their classes. Most first-hour classes run from 2:45-3:45pm. After a 15-minute transition time, most second-hour classes run from 4:00-5:00pm.

STUDENTS TAKING TWO CONSECUTIVE CLASSES:

If students in grades K-2 are taking a second-hour class after their first-hour class, DASEP onsite staff will transfer them to the later class. If students in grades 3-8 are taking a second-hour class after their first-hour class, they will transfer themselves, but DASEP staff are onsite to assist, if necessary.

Parents and caregivers should pick up students immediately after their DASEP classes are dismissed, at either 3:45 or 5:00 (unless class dismissal is different) and at Door 12, the side exit to the immediate right of the school’s main entrance, facing Harvard Street.
